Twitter has added a new privacy setting that allows users to receive direct messages from anyone, regardless of whether they follow each other or not. Users can now send and receive direct messages to and from anyone, provided they enable the feature in the settings menu.

Facebook may have missed Wall Street’s estimates for its latest quarter, but it continues to grow at a healthy clip when it comes to users. During the social network’s Q1 2015 earnings report on Wednesday, the company reported its user base is larger than ever on desktop and mobile. There are now 1.44 billion people who use Facebook every month, up from the 1.39 billion last quarter.

What We’re Watching

There are 106 people named Harry Potter?! This guy looks at an interesting question, “when are we going to run out of  names?” I can’t help thinking about the cultures that will never care. Have you met Jose Garcia? Or, Muhammad? Western culture seeks unique identities. Even I made up a unique name for my daughter, Izalia. Either way, the problem is that some day we are going to run out of digital unique identifiers and the web will be a jumbled mess. Ugh.
