Facebook Is To Blame For A Wave Of ‘Dark Traffic’ Swamping The Web, But It’s Working On A Fix

Now new research from the analytics firm Chartbeat, as well as confirmation from major publishers, shows that Facebook’s mobile apps are largely responsible for the swathes of dark traffic being directed toward websites. We already knew Facebook was the principal source of social referral traffic for most digital publishers. But Facebook has been underselling itself.

You’ve told us the most important thing is being able to find posts you’ve seen before, and now you can. With a quick search, you can get back to a fun video from your graduation, a news article you’ve been meaning to read, or photos from your friend’s wedding last summer.

Facebook launches 7 call-to-action buttons for Pages

Facebook today launched call-to-action buttons for Facebook Pages. There are seven in total: Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up, and Watch Video. The new call-to-action feature is coming to the U.S. first; the rollout starts today and will continue “over the next few weeks.”

Instagram’s nice factor is key to its victory over Twitter

So why isn’t Twitter growing faster? One explanation may be Facebook’s purchase of Instagram, which gave it access to an audience of 1.35 billion. But even if that were true — and Facebook hasn’t exactly been pushing the service — it doesn’t have anything to do with more users actively using it, month in, month out. Instagram is the only service (Facebook included) that offers all of the good aspects about Twitter — the immediacy, the international aspect, the humor, the personal connection, the ability to follow anyone — with little, if any, of the bad aspects.

Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook is ‘thinking about’ a dislike button

Facebook is considering ways users can express their feelings beyond the Like button, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during a Q&A at the company’s headquarters in Menlo Park Thursday “We’re thinking about it,” Zuckerberg said when asked whether the social network would ever add the long-requested dislike button.

Facebook Is Ditching Bing’s Search Results

Facebook and Microsoft have had a relatively long-standing partnership when it comes to search: for years, Facebook searches would also show Bing results, and Bing queries have thrown up results from your friends. But history seems to mean very little to Facebook, which appears to have quietly killed Bing results.
