Study: More Teens are Fleeing from Facebook

An iStrategyLabs report from January 2014 caused quite a ruffle among the Facebook top brass and investors, as it indicated that teens are leaving the ubiquitous social platform. Now, a Thursday report from Frank N. Magid Associates Inc. (via Bloomberg) shows that Facebook’s popularity among younger users is in serious decline.

Twitter’s ‘While You Were Away’ Feature Rolling Out to More Users

The social giants of today- Facebook and Twitter are both in an armed race which seem to be converging into one another. Much like Facebook’s news feed which displays posts and status updates in a ranked manner based on its algorithms that try to predict what will grab the user’s interest- Twitter has now rolled out a new feature: “While you were away.” It displays a recap of the best tweets that you might have missed and shows them on top of your timeline.

Details Unveiled for Twitter’s Native Video Player to Rival YouTube?

January 2, 2015

A Twitter spokesperson tells us that the FAQ and terms are in reference to promoted video services for Amplify users, not the new video player that it plans to launch for consumers in the first half of 2015. The Twitter Video Player will host videos of up to 10 minutes with no limit on file size, initially supporting mp4 and mov files. There will be no ability to edit videos or schedule them within the player — at least in its first iteration.

What the Shift to Video Means for Creators

We’re increasingly seeing a shift towards visual content on Facebook, especially with video. In just one year, the number of video posts per person has increased 75% globally and 94% in the US. And with people creating, posting and interacting with more videos on Facebook, the composition of News Feed is changing. Globally, the amount of video from people and brands in News Feed has increased 3.6x year-over-year.
